i might have held this session hostage. some of my favorite images - including the first shot, that took over the top spot for my favorite image i've made ever. cause, sometimes it's actually the outtakes that are THE shot. i don't know a mom, including myself, that doesn't want that one photograph of the whole family looking at the camera with real smiles. we just do, or at least we think we do. until we see that photo of our family laughing and full of joy just like what a saturday morning snuggle in bed looks like. and we sigh because our hearts are full. the outtakes sometimes capture the "real" the best. the silly, the goofy, the joy.

this family has my heart. not only did we do life together while living in hawaii, i also got to capture them multiple times including here, which was my first official session in paradise. this time we picked pyramid beach in kaneohe for it's crazy gorgeous water and it's normally quiet activity. makes it look like we had the beach to ourselves! and while it's not the perfect beach for paddle boarding, i was excited to have them to bring the board along anyway. so cool to plan a shoot around what a regular saturday would look like when you live in this gorgeous place, i mean seriously. take me back.

i miss this family oh so much. our first months back in bellingham, my boys would ask for these ladies daily. it's a gift to find people you can be totally real with and even more so those that your kids bond with like family. these ladies were micah's first crush - a crush this mama will always approve of.
